Rod Blagojevich Convicted of Lying

After 14 days of jury deliberations, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been convicted on 1 count of lying to the FBI. The jury was deadlocked on the 23 other corruption charges – resulting with the District Court Judge declaring a mistrial.

Rod Blagojevich’s brother Robert Blagojevich, who was also being tried on corruption charges, was not convicted of any of his 4 charges – also resulting with a mistrial. A hearing is scheduled for August 26th to determine whether the prosecution will seek a retrial for each of the brothers.
