Blagojevich Retrial in January

Today a District Court hearing resulted with former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich facing a retrial for federal corruption charges beginning the week of January 4th. Two weeks ago, Blagojevich was convicted of 1 count of lying to federal prosecutors, yet the jury remained deadlocked on 23 other corruption charges – leading to a mistrial. The former Governor’s brother Robert Blagojevich, who was also tried on 4 corruption charges that concluded with a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury, will not face a retrial.
