Stem-Cell Injunction Reprieved

Although an August 23rd ruling prevents federal funding for stem-cell research, today the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington D.C. issued a stay [.pdf] on the ruling – blocking the injunction from going into effect. There are currently 24 stem-cell research projects with a budget of $64 million that employs more than 1,300 people, according to the Obama Administration’s appeal to the injunction [.pdf]. The emergency stay will remain in effect at least until September 14th, which is when the appellees will be able to respond to the motion.
