Rahm Emanuel Confirms Exit

Following the announcement on September 7th that the Mayor of Chicago Richard Daley would not seek a 7th term, there has been political chatter about Rahm Emanuel stepping down as the White House Chief of Staff to seek the office. In an interview earlier this year with Charlie Rose, as the video clip below shows, Emanuel said being the Mayor of Chicago is the job in government that he’s always “aspired to.” Today, two sources from within the White House have confirmed the gossip that Rahm Emanuel will announce his resignation as the Chief of Staff on Friday, reports the NY Times. This makes the 4th senior White House official to exit in the past 2 months.
