West Virginia Senate Race Sways

The West Virginian Senate race to replace late Senator Robert Byrd has gone back and forth between Democratic candidate Joe Manchin, who is also the current Governor in West Virginia, and Republican candidate John Raese, a successful businessman. The 2 polls of the race released this week show Manchin with a lead between 3% and 6%, but the previous 4 polls showed Raese with a lead between 2% and 7% – resulting with a shift in the past week favoring Manchin, who also has the highest approval rating of all Governors at 69%. Manchin has had a campaign focus that distinguishes his differences from other Democrats, especially with an advertisement where Manchin shot a cap and trade bill, which has been effective according to the recent shift in polls.
